A day of avalanches

2nd May 2015

Light drifting led to windslab building over a soft layer on W to N aspects.  This caused a very weak layer.  It caught two snowboarders out at around midday on the Cas Head Wall.  Windslab was continually building on the steep convex slope.  They triggered two separated avalanches one after the other and scooted away unharmed, missing the boulder fields below

Shooting cracks on a NW aspect at 1100m.
