Bitterly Cold – Icy Snowfields

4th April 2017

A bitterly cold day on the tops with a strong North-Westerly wind and some bracing light snow-showers. Any snowfields are now very frozen and icy which presents a situation of high consequence regarding the potential of slipping and sliding very fast into rocks.

Looking very windy again tomorrow with very strong North-Westerly winds, Freezing around summit levels, Below freezing overnight and early morning on the tops.

A hazy view across the Cairngorm plateau and into Coire an t Sneachda

Coire an Lochain with a hard snow fringe around the twin burns descent.
