Windy with Snowfields high in Corries

6th April 2017

A blustery day with clouds on the tops – still quite cold especially in the wind. Snowfields are still fairly extensive with some summer footpaths running into them.

Forecast is for strong Westerly winds, the snowfields will be firm and icy in the morning softening  up later.  Some serious run-outs into rocks in steeper places where the snow slopes fringe coire back walls and ridge flanks. But mostly they can be avoided with careful route selection if you don’t have the correct equipment to cross them with confidence.
