Windy and mild

22nd March 2018

Plus 5.6 degrees celsius on the summit during the early part of the day.  Windy over the tops and a thawing snowpack.  Cornice collapse from Crotch Gully was noted this morning.  Soft snow lies on most aspects, shaded North facing slopes were firmer.   Good visibility apart from some thin cloud hugging the tops.

We saw the cornice collapse down crotched gully. It was at 08.55 this morning and it meant we decided to climb goat track gully instead of spiral gully. There was also a slide down the runnel? before we arrived in the coire.

      Hi David
That would tie in very well with the mild temperatures around that time. Thanks for your information it’s much appreciated.
