Deep snow

3rd April 2019

Heavy snow during the night and through the morning leaving a deep blanket of snow on all aspects.  Moderate to strong Easterly winds at higher levels with drifting snow creating deep widespread accumulations of unstable windslab.  Travel conditions were heavy going even with the use of skis in knee to thigh deep heavy unconsolidated snow.

Deep unstable accumulations continue to develop.

 

Thigh deep drifts.
