Mild and windy

20th January 2020

A mild and windy day with highs of plus 9 degrees Celsius on the summit of Cairngorm.  The snowpack is diminishing and variable underfoot;  Glass like ice on foot paths and easy angled terrain, breakable crust through boulder fields and at lower altitudes, firm at higher levels on steep open slopes.  Many mountaineering groups and a few climbers were out making the most of conditions.
