Cold, Wintry and Clear – At Last!

17th January 2020

At last a respite from the winds – some clear spells providing good views and colours, far removed from the monochrome of the last week! quite windy still with 60mph on the tops at times. The corries have filled in nicely, the plateau has been pretty well scoured after 4 days of storm force winds. All snow slopes are bullet hard and icy – certainly focuses your attention – wouldn’t want to trip up – would be off like a rocket! to an uncertain outcome .

A wind scoured Cairngorm

Ascending up to the Cairngorm plateau – all snow slopes are firm snow-ice.

Good snow cover of firm snow-ice in the corries. Coire an t Sneachda
