Light winds and good visibility

9th January 2020

Light winds and good visibility for a change which made it a good opportunity to get up high and see the plateau.  Old patches of snow are sparse firm and icy.  There’s generally a thin cover of snow with shallow deposits of windslab on N to E aspects.  Summit temperatures were minus 5 C throughout the day.

Looking South at Beinn Mheadhoin, Carn Etchachan and the Shelter Stone.

The top of Coire Raibert, Sneachda the Fiachaill Buttress, Lochain summit behind.

The Cairngorm plateau with Ben Macdui in the distance.

Looking South towards Loch Etchachan
