Cold and Crisp with Sunshine

13th March 2020

A day to put a glow in your cheeks!  Sunshine cool temperatures and fresh Southerly winds, overall a stunning day to be in the hills after several days of wind and snow.  Large cornices overhang many North and East facing slopes, see below…

A soft weak layer persists beneath firm surface layers, steep and convex terrain is especially affected.  Ridges and some wind exposed

slopes remain icy and scoured.  All change again for Saturday, back to gale force winds and snowfall.

Looking towards Bynack Beg overlooking Strath Nethy.

Large cornices overhanging East aspects at 1100m

Weaknesses persisting in the snowpack as indicated by cracking underfoot. NE aspect 1050m
