Drifting at higher levels.

8th January 2022

Milder temperatures than of late with easing South-Westerly winds.  Some drifting snow above 1000 metres.  Slopes exposed to the recent strong winds are rocky and scored in places.  Deep drifts remain in lee areas.  Many people were out and about making the most of the wintry conditions.

The Ptarmigan at 1070 metres.

Looking up towards the summit of Cairngorm. Some clear spells developed through the afternoon.

Views looking into Coire an t-Sneachda. Windslab accumulations can be seen below the buttresses.

Wind exposed slopes are scoured and rocky.

Coire an Lochain. Note the windslab below the buttresses and on the East facing Flanks.
