Calm before the wind

3rd April 2022

A calm clear and cold morning.  During the afternoon conditions turned increasingly windy with drifting snow and precipitation falling as light snowfall above 600 metres.

Soft snow currently remains on all aspects at higher levels.   This is creating arduous underfoot conditions especially on the plateau and terrain mostly above 1000 metres.  Firm snow ice is exposed on some wind scoured areas.

Unsettled weather approaches from the West.
