Recent avalanches as temperatures rise.

6th May 2016

Friday was a warm day with temperatures reaching plus 6.5 degrees in Coire an Lochain at 1000 metres. There is evidence of recent avalanche activity on North West to North East aspects. Whilst in the corrie both rockfall and cornice collapse were observed.

Large cornices remain in many locations with accumulations of poorly bonded snow persisting in steep shaded terrain at the highest elevations.
