Mild and windy

1st February 2022

Westerly winds were a steady 70 to 90 mph over the summits with gusts of over 100 mph and although helpful for walking into the corries the more height gained the more uncomfortable and turbulent it was.

Yesterday’s wintry look has once again disappeared.  Old firm patchy snow remains mostly on corrie back walls and the plateau.  Thin ribbons of ice are holding out on some of the buttresses.

Looking a bit gloomy

A fleeting view into Coire an t-Sneachda, note the slush in the foreground.

The old snow patches are retreating towards the buttresses. Strips of snow remain in some of the main gully lines.  Streaks of ice look fragile.

A break in the cloud giving way to views of the East facing flank of Lochain.
