A warm sunny day

26th March 2022

Another day of high pressure with dry settled conditions.  Cool and frosty at glen levels first thing but as the day progressed it became pleasantly warm and sunny.  Shaded North facing slopes are firm with serious runouts.  Sun exposed slopes are soft and thawing at all levels.  Cover remains good above 1000 metres, lines of cornices overhang a multitude of aspects.  Many folk were out and about enjoying the good weather.  Ski tourers were heading for the plateau, many hill walkers making a beeline for Ben Macdui, and a winter skills group were making the most of the firm snow in the Northern corries.   There could be a few red faces and sun burned bodies by the end of the day!
