Deep snow and poor visibility

10th December 2022

Significant snowfall the previous night with continuing snow showers during the day.  A deep blanket of soft snow lies on all aspects, later in the morning conditions worsened at altitude with the arrival of significant drifting on a brisk North-East wind.  Reports of soft chest deep snow overlying grass on the approach slopes of the Northern Corries, also the upper reaches of the walk in are tricky especially when tackling boulder fields.  If your off the beaten track it’s hard going even on ski.  Cold snowy conditions are set to continue well into next week.

Stream beds filling in –  650m.

A group ski touring up the Cas

Hard going underfoot conditions – 950metres.
