Stormy Sunday

8th January 2023

Less snowfall arrived than expected; however there was significant drifting above 900 metres on the storm force Southerly winds.  One of the main challenges today was getting out of a cozy car which was being rocked by the wind on the Cas car park.  The next challenge was getting across the car park, which was semi OK in the lee of the buildings but once exposed to the wind it was time to batten down the hatches and do some observations.  A few climbers made it as far as the corrie floor, but soon turned around to head back down.  During the afternoon the winds eased, and from the glen it looked like a pleasant day.

A lot of quacking and squabbling going on…. The ducks didn’t seem too impressed by the Southerly gales sweeping across the loch.

Views of Coire and Lochain and Lurchers gully.

A closer look at Coire an Lochain.
