Windy and mild.

4th February 2023

Dry windy and mild up until around mid afternoon when the freezing level fell to around zero C at summit levels. Rain and snow showers arrived later in the day.  The snowpack has become quite patchy and although mild it still remains firm and icy at higher levels.

Firms snowfields are extensive on some parts of the plateau.

This Snow Bunting was part of a flock on the summit of Cairngorm. They weren’t discouraged by the gale force winds!
