Magnificent Monday

6th February 2023

The high tops were clear first thing today giving good visibility to see where the old snow remains. The hills to the West became obscured as clouds rolled in. Underfoot conditions were mostly firm and icy, with the snowpack only softening in direct sun. Shady aspects remained very firm and icy at all altitudes. Run outs are potentially serious.

Looking into the North facing coires of Braeriach with Coire Ruadh on the left and Coire an Lochain on the right.

On the East side of Cairngorm, looking across to Beinn Mheadhoin.

Clouds rolling in from the West, across the top of Coire an t-Sneachda.

Giving a clear indication of the conditions underfoot.
