Spring like conditions

21st February 2023

Another spring like day in the Northern Cairngorms area.  We have a change in airmass tomorrow bringing in a cooler – apparently seasonal ‘normal’ – system.  With fresh snow fall in the forecast, I expect the hills to look very different tomorrow.

Above: Bynack More (1090m) on the left with Cairn Gorm on the right (1245m)

Above: Looking across to Coire an t-Sneachda from Cairn Gorm summit.

Above: High East aspects on Cairn Gorm still holding onto the snow.

Above: There has been a noticeable dearth of Ptarmigan sightings this winter season. Nice to enjoy a few minutes watching a small cluster scuttling around the plateau.

Above: Coire an Lochain around midday.
