The calm before the storm

16th February 2023

A very pleasant day on the hill with light winds and a dusting of snow at higher elevations.  Any new amounts of fresh snow are minimal and the existing old snow ranges from pleasantly-soft to crampon-essential.

Above: Fairly typical plateau conditions

Above:  High sheltered corries still holding most snow.

Above: Firm old snow still present in many locations.
