Overcast

9th March 2024

The cloud base remained around 700 metres today, lifting slightly later in the afternoon, which resulted in practically zero photos. The last couple of days will give a good idea of snow cover since cosmetically little has changed. We have some uncertainty in the amounts of snowfall coming into the Cairngorm’s tomorrow – accumulations of up to 5 cm are possible if longer spells of snow develop.  This will affect the snow stability and hazard rating.

Above: temperatures remaining cold enough allowing ice to form.

Above: this is about as good as it got today.
