Murk

30th December 2024

After a night of significant rain at all levels it cleared to leave a murky day. Bands of cloud obscured the Cairgorms but there was a clear spell between 700 and 900 metres.  On the plus side, the overnight storm force winds gusting over 100mph, eased light to moderate. Cooler temperatures by midday, minus 1 Celsius at summit levels.  Volatile conditions expected overnight with heavy snow quickly followed by heavy rain, becoming a bit cooler during new years eve.

Mountaineers make the most of a patch of snow on the Fiacaill Sneachda ridge.

Bands of cloud.

At 900m, another useful patch of snow.

Post heavy rain, the burns are in full flow.
