Rising temperatures.

23rd December 2024

After yesterday’s blizzard conditions, it’s a very different picture today.  Deep drifts remain in lee areas, but these have become more consolidated than of late. The freezing level rose through the afternoon with summit temperatures of around plus 3 degrees Celsius.  Mild conditions are expected to continue over the Christmas period.

Looking up the Cas ridge.  Windslab accumulations were notably more widespread in the Lochain twin burns area which faces the same way (East).  This is due to the plateau above having greater fetch for drifting snow .

Windslab mostly confined to crag aprons on Northerly aspects.
