Storm and Snow

7th December 2024

Whiteout above 600m and persistent snow above 500m or so with 20cm or so at this elevation with SE winds. Storm force Northerly  winds kicked in during the morning and continues to drift significant snow onto Southerly aspects – see video clip at around 1100m altitude.  Obviously this bodes well, providing good snow cover, unfortunately visibility will likely be poor tomorrow which makes good route selection difficult.

20-30cm snow at Cairngorm Mountain car park.

Below – at around 1100m with snow drifting onto south side of  snow fences.
