Spring conditions.

15th January 2025

Great to have some good visibility and sunshine today. Lots of bare ground and a few snow patches in the landscape, certainly made it feel more springlike in the mild conditions.

The snow pack continues to consolidate and stability is good. The main hazard in the mild conditions continues to be falling rock and ice and also isolated large chunks of snow still lingering at the top of some crags. (mainly NW through East to South aspects.)

(Above) A snow patch at Ciste Meradh near Cairngorm. A small amount of avalanche debris can be seen where shadow meets sun (most likely triggered at the beginning of the current warm spell).
