Storm force winds

19th February 2025

SSE winds increased through the morning to storm force with significant drifting.  Where windslab accumulations lie the snowpack remains weak and could easily be triggered especially on steep slopes. Cornices remain fragile and overhang many NW to NE aspects.

Drifting snow on the East flank of the Cas ridge.

Snowpack weakness, this was on a NW aspect at 1050m
