The coire of the snow

3rd February 2025

This is day 4 of mild temperatures in the Cairngorms.  There is no denying that we have lost a lot of the superficial snow at lower levels but above 900 metres, some healthy deposits of snow are still present. Coire an t-Sneachda was used as today’s venue of choice and thankfully she is living up to her name.

The mild spell continues this evening and overnight with the freezing level dropping tomorrow lunchtime.  There’s some snow in the forecast tomorrow afternoon, not a substantial amount but hopefully turning us into a whiter landscape once again.

Above: a much whiter picture above 900 metres.
