A winters day

28th March 2025

A day of sunshine and squally showers falling as snow at higher levels.  Accumulations of windslab are beginning to form in lee areas.  These are mostly shallow and avoidable.  The old snowpack is firming up, especially on North facing slopes.  Remaining cold on Saturday up until the afternoon when the freezing level is expected to rise above the summits.

Coire an Lochain.

A dusting of snow on the distant Bynack More.

Newly drifted snow in the lee of the snow fences at 1100m.

At 1100 metres, feeling very wintry in the gale force winds and snow showers.

Looking across to Beinn Mheadhoin, the Eastern side of Cairngorm in the foreground.
