Another mild day
27th March 2025
The mild theme continues with light rain and gales through the day. The remaining snow patches are soft in nature with good stability and can be easily avoided if you don’t mind detouring.
There will be a welcome return to winter tomorrow as the freezing level lowers to 500 metres briefly before settling around 800 metres through the day. Most of the forecasted snow will be lying on bare ground but especially where it starts to settle on the historic snow and gains depth, some localised shallow instabilities will be present. The old snow patches will start to refreeze and will present a distinctive icy feel about them.
Looking down to the Strath which appeared to be a magnet for the heavier rain. In fact, the extreme Eastern fringes of the area escaped the majority of the rain today.
Southern flank of Cnap Coire na Spreidhe (1151m).
Murky towards Beinn Mheadhoin.
Coire Cas and spot height 1141m.
A good day for wildlife spotting – three ptarmigan, two snow bunting and one mountain hare.
