Cairn Gorm circumnavigation

25th March 2025

Another beautiful day in the Northern Cairngorms, especially after the morning fog had dispersed.  Although mild and warming in the sun, it felt pretty nippy in the wind.  The slow thaw continues, especially where the snow is exposed to direct sunlight but remaining slightly firmer in shadier locations.  Photos to show where the remaining snow patches can be found.

Loch Etchachan (which didn’t look very frozen) and Derry Cairngorm on the left.

Càrn Etchachan and some of the Shelter Stone crag.
