It’s a braw day the day…

19th March 2025

It was a braw day the day.

High pressure still remains dominant across Scotland and the Northern Cairngorms mountains were spectacular in white

The snow cover, which is thin in places remains frozen with only steeper Southerly aspects softening in the strong spring sunshine. Some of the steeper, sheltered slopes softened rapidly and there was evidence of roller balls and minor sluffs. Elsewhere the snow especially on the Northern slopes remained firm and icy.

The visibility especially in the morning was excellent and with light Westerly winds it was definitely a day to linger and admire the views. As the poet Henry Davies said,

“What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare.

Another ‘braw’ day expected tomorrow.

That Henry Davies line is also at Wandlebury Ring near Cambridge. The difference being the view is over arable undulating fields and not awesome snow capped Cairngorm summits.
