The Sunshine Continues.
4th April 2025
It was another lovely sunny day in the Cairngorms. It felt very summery up there today with just a few patches of snow remaining. This was softening in the sunshine. The ground still feels a little damp, and I suspect that the crags might still have a few damp streaks on them. Looks like remaining dry into next week, but the turning a bit cooler and windier tomorrow.
Layers of low cloud to the East.

NOT TODAY. A different angle, but the same snow patch as in the photo above, but taken in the middle of July 2010. There is only slightly more snow here at the moment than there has been in the middle of the summer during many years in the not too distant past. I doubt there will be any snow here by the middle of July this year.

Looking over to Garbh Choire Mor of Braeriach. This is the location of Britain’s more permeant snowpatch which only melted totally three times in the 20th century. In past few years it has melted more often than it has survived, and given how little there currently is for the time of the year, is looking very unlikely for survival this year.
