A very “Merry Christmas” from Northern Cairngorm’s

25th December 2025

Another day of high pressure, light winds, and plenty of sunshine.  Inversion conditions continue, with summit temperatures above freezing, highs of 6 Celsius over the past 24 hours.  Meanwhile at glen levels, it was well below freezing, with temperatures around minus 6 Celsius this morning.  Although it feels mild at higher levels, the snowpack remains firm with serious run out potential on steep slopes.

Ice beginning to form.  Some of the boulders used to cross the burns are covered in glass like ice.
