Continuous drifting and strong winds are doing a great job in filling in natural wind sheltered locations across the mountain. Travel in wind exposed areas is becoming easier but in lee areas trail breaking is still a general theme.
The freezing level has been rather erratic today which is helping to improve general snowpack stability. There are some weaknesses within the snowpack but these continue to consolidate.
Historic view of Cairn Gorm summit temperature. I can confirm at 1130 it was drizzling at 1083 metres for a very short period of time.
Northern Coires shrouded in cloud this morning.
Poor visibility on the plateau.
Drifting continued through the day above 1100 metres.
Wind exposed areas mainly bare ground and firm snow or ice.
