A period of heavy snowfall

17th January 2026

Snowfall on strong to gale force SSE winds. Billowing spindrift in the upper corries with poor visibility.  A different story at lower altitudes with precipitation falling as rain and paths are becoming slushy with stretches of ice between.  A busy day in the corries, with quite a few folk retreating in the deteriorating conditions.  Not such a great photography day but see below the general lay of the land below the clouds.

At 900 metres on the Fiacaill a Choire Chais ridge.
