Coire an Lochain

15th January 2026

A day of moderate to strong SW winds, and mostly dry, cloud sometimes lifting above the tops.  Underfoot conditions are variable with a mix of breakable crust, firm snow fields and some accumulations of new windslab.  Paths are icy in places, with stretches of solid ice across some boggy areas.  Some burn crossing are bridged by firm snow.

The Great Slab Coire an Lochain, stripped of snow after a full depth avalanche occured during the recent stormy period.

The significant debris from the avalanche stretches out across the Lochain’s, it’s discolored from being full depth and  dragging debris along with it.
