Drifting continues.

29th January 2026

A day of poor visibility with South-Easterly gales and drifting snow.  Poorly bonded windslab continues to build at higher levels, this is more localised with better stability at lower levels.  Very difficult to see very much above 700 metres, but here’s a few photo’s from today.

Ski tourers just above the Ciste car park at 550m.

General conditions at 1000 metres.

Cracking underfoot, a sign of snowpack weakness. This was at 1000 metres on a NW aspect where windslab was building fast.

A glimpse of blue sky at 800 metres.

Views looking up towards the link road, the up road was later closed due to drifting snow.
