Clear and crisp

14th February 2026

A clear and crisp day in the Northern Cairngorms with the elusive sun making a rare appearance.  A great day for observations, with a midday temperature of around minus 8°C and negligible winds.  Skies started to slowly cloud over in the early afternoon.  All change once again with new accumulations of fresh snow expected overnight to lower levels accompanied by gale force winds.  Please refer to the Avalanche Report for more details.
