Increasing winds

26th February 2026

Another mild day with winds gusting over 80mph at summit levels.  The snowpack continues to thaw and large unstable cornices loom over many North-West to Northerly facing slopes.  Although mild there is still plenty of snow, especially around coire back walls, and above 800 metres large snow fields remain.  Cooler temperatures expected during Friday which should help to consolidate the snowpack.

Two avalanches right of Mess of Potage, potentially triggered by cornice collapse during the night when it was raining the most.

Coire an Lochain mostly hidden by poor visibility.
