Squally showers

11th March 2026

The recorded overnight wind peaked just shy of 90 knots (103 mph) which eased only slightly during the day.  This hampered high level observations.  A mainly dry day with some robust squally snow showers coming through accompanied by some long sunny intervals.  Another challenging 24 hours ahead of us with a significant amount of snowfall expected, mainly overnight.  However, much of the fresh snowfall will be confined to the high summits.  Winds remaining storm force easing to gale force by the morning. The old snowpack has started to firm up once again making progress easier.

The Ciste area proved a popular venue choice for many today.
