Westerly airflow
14th March 2026
A frosty start in the glen this morning, less windy than yesterday but it was still quite blowy at height with drifting snow. Visibility was variable with bouts of low cloud especially during the snow showers. Underfoot conditions are also varied; very firm and icy on wind blasted slopes with serious run outs where steep, lumpy bumpy sastrugi in some areas, dense firm windslab on lee slopes, and some areas are just bare and icy.
Very moody at times, this was looking across the East side of Cairngorm with Beinn Mheadhoin behind.
From the summit of Cairngorm a glimpse of Carn Etchachan and shelter stone before it disappeared in the mist.
