Another fine day
28th December 2021
Another fine day on the hill today. Sadly, it is likely to be all change tomorrow with the passage of a front giving gale force winds, precipitation and a rising freezing level.
Despite the deteriorating weather, this is likely to have a stabilising effect on the snowpack in the next twenty four hours. The weak layer that was identified yesterday is likely to dissipate as the freezing level rises well above the summits in the afternoon.
The wind has been absent today in Glenmore, with just a light breeze aloft. The windsock on the Glenmore Lodge landing zone is hanging rather forlornly, but I am sure it will be back in use tomorrow. For some wind sock information check out this previous blog.
