No viz!

2nd February 2018

The early bird didn’t catch the worm this morning: Headed up and over the back hoping to get a view of the East and South-East facing crags but couldn’t see a thing – not even the snow I was moving on as it merged into the white horizon. It has finally cleared now – giving cracking views if you are coming off the mountains…(Frustrating if you are now sat in the office!)

The recent snow is continuing to consolidate but there are some very steep snow exits on some of the routes on the South-East facing crags…

A little bit more snow forecast for tomorrow with the winds starting to increase in the afternoon – so some light drifting and a bit of fresh windslab build up to watch out for later in the day.

Very poor visibility this morning

Heavy rime ice on posts giving clues as to recent wind direction

A heavily rimed weather station on Cairn Gorm

Very steep snow exits on some gullies at present

Cloud lifting and breaking later on this afternoon.
