Still mild and windy

15th February 2019

A stunning blue sky day but this was hampered by the strong to gale force Southerly winds.  Mild temperatures with a high of 10 degree’s Celsius on the summit of Cairngorm during the night.  The main gully lines are holding onto snow and ice despite the thaw, however, rock fall and cornice collapse onto slopes below are still a hazard.

Walking conditions are generally good if your on the paths.  Higher up once you hit the snow line it feels on the main firm but its quite varied with some thigh deep post holing, especially if your crossing a boulder field!
