Still mild and windy
15th February 2019
A stunning blue sky day but this was hampered by the strong to gale force Southerly winds. Â Mild temperatures with a high of 10 degree’s Celsius on the summit of Cairngorm during the night. Â The main gully lines are holding onto snow and ice despite the thaw, however, rock fall and cornice collapse onto slopes below are still a hazard.
Walking conditions are generally good if your on the paths. Â Higher up once you hit the snow line it feels on the main firm but its quite varied with some thigh deep post holing, especially if your crossing a boulder field!
