Cool bright and windy

A cold day with great views, South-Westerly winds increased to strong over the summits. Â Although the freezing level rose to above the tops the snowpack remained firm. Â A glaze of ice covers most of the terrain with paths being particularly icy from last Thursdays heavy rain. Travel on foot is generally good;Â crampons and ice axe are essential in steeper terrain.
