Cool bright and windy

19th January 2020

A cold day with great views, South-Westerly winds increased to strong over the summits.  Although the freezing level rose to above the tops the snowpack remained firm.  A glaze of ice covers most of the terrain with paths being particularly icy from last Thursdays heavy rain. Travel on foot is generally good; crampons and ice axe are essential in steeper terrain.
