Thawing and gloomy

29th November 2021

A steady thaw at all levels with spells of rain falling as snow over the summits.  Deep soft accumulations remain in hollows and wind sheltered locations especially on E through S to SW aspects above 850m.  Slumping cornices were also observed on these aspects.  The path into Coire and t-Sneachda was fairly straight forward, covered in well trodden snow which turned increasingly to slush, although once off the path expect to do a bit of post holing in some areas.  A few folk were out and about exploring the potential for winter sport, although the main gully lines still look lean on N facing aspects.
