Calm between the storms

30th January 2022

A lull in the weather this morning before Southerly winds picked up strong to gale force through the afternoon.  This was accompanied by snowfall which turned heavier by mid afternoon.  A stormy night is expected once again as storm Corrie crosses the country.  There is a dusting of snow above 600 metres.  The old snow is patchy and very firm with a serious run-out potential into the rocky terrain below.

Views of the Northern Corries at 9am this morning.

Many groups were out and about making the most of the patchy firm snow.

The Coire Cas headwall and ridge looking a little more wintry.

Views into Coire an t-Sneachda before the wind and snow arrived this afternoon.
