Lean & Mean…

20th January 2022

Lean conditions out there at the moment but what is there is bullet hard.  There’s still some fun to be had, but the consequences of a simple slip or trip are serious, with boulder scattered runouts to abruptly stop your downward progress….

There’s been a dusting of fresh snow above around 700 metres with some isolated shallow accumulations present but they haven’t yet achieved significant depth and the overall effect is purely cosmetic.

No precipitation forecast for the next 24 hour period so the wait continues….

Limited photo opportunities today as the cloud kept dropping in but TBH nothing much has changed from yesterday.

A dusting of fresh snow above around 700 metres. Meall a’Bhuachaille 810m.

Poor visibility when the cloud dropped in. Just a trace of new snow fell today.

Old refrozen snow is firm and icy. The consequences of a slip or trip on steeper ground are serious.

Isolated, shallow pockets of fresh snow. No significant accumulations encountered today.
