Cold and windy

22nd February 2022

After the overnight milder temperatures the snowpack has developed a widespread crust which is icy on wind exposed terrain.  Although the boulder fields are beginning to fill in with firm snow and ice, there is still the potential to break through the crust and go into a deep hole!

Another day of gale force winds with drifting snow.  Later in the afternoon, snow showers fell to as low as glen levels.   Heavy snowfall expected during Tuesday accompanied by gale force winds.

Looking up the Ciste Gully. West facing slopes are wind scoured, windslab developing again on East aspects.
