Light winds

13th February 2022

The snow is most widespread on Northerly to Easterly aspects above 900 metres.  A breakable crust has developed and in some areas the snow is soft and deep.    It was a very busy day in the Cairngorms,  with many groups making the most of the wintry conditions, minus the recent strong winds.

Walking into Coire an Lochain, at 900m.

At 950 metres; a mix of soft snow and breakable crust.

Coire an Lochain looking a bit more wintry. Ice is also building on easier angled terrain.

At 1000m on a NE aspect.  One of many observations used to identify snowpack weaknesses.
